FAQ

Real questions from real customers about LUMIQ. If yours isn't answered here, email hello@lumiq.com — a real person reads every message.

Is LUMIQ safe for dark skin tones?

Yes — and that's the whole point. LUMIQ was formulated specifically for medium to deep skin tones, where common brightening ingredients like hydroquinone are linked to ochronosis, irritation, and rebound darkening. We use 2% kojic acid plus niacinamide — both extensively studied as safe for melanin-rich skin, with no risk of permanent pigment damage. We recommend a 24-hour patch test on the inner arm before first use.

How fast does it work?

You'll notice softer texture and more even tone at week 2 to 3. Visible fading of dark spots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation typically happens between weeks 4 and 6 with daily use. Daily SPF is the difference between LUMIQ working and not working — kojic acid increases your skin's UV sensitivity. Real change takes 4 to 6 weeks. We won't pretend otherwise.

Can I use it with my other products?

Most likely, yes. Apply LUMIQ Brightening Serum after cleansing and toning, before moisturizer. It plays well with hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and most peptides. Avoid stacking it with other strong actives at the same time of day — particularly retinoids (use those at night, LUMIQ in the morning), high-strength vitamin C, or AHAs/BHAs. Always finish your morning routine with SPF.

What if it doesn't work for me?

We offer a 60-day skin promise: if after using LUMIQ daily for 60 days you don't see visible improvement, email hello@lumiq.com and we'll refund your first order. No return needed, no exit survey, no hoops. We'd rather you trust the science than gamble on a promise.

Where do you ship from?

LUMIQ ships from our US fulfillment partner. Standard shipping (3 to 5 business days) is free on orders over $40. International shipping to Canada, UK, and Australia is in beta — check the shipping calculator at checkout. We hand-pack every order and include a printed ritual guide.

Is the bottle really glass?

Yes. The Brightening Serum bottle is amber pharmaceutical glass — chosen because kojic acid degrades quickly when exposed to light. The amber tint preserves the formula, and glass doesn't leach plasticizers into the product. The dropper is stainless steel with a food-grade silicone bulb. The body lotion uses a recyclable PCR plastic tube; the SPF uses an airless pump in PCR plastic. We're working toward 100% post-consumer materials by 2027.
